Hey everyone! Society of Physics Students at HCC-DM campus is up and running for its second semester, Fall 2009!
Our first event of the semester will be a movie night! Well, actually, movie afternoon since we will be showing the movie during the normal club meeting time of 3:30 p.m.
We will have a room number closer to the event and I will edit this post to include that number once we get the room confirmed, so reread this post closer to the event.
The movie will be shown Tuesday, September 22nd at 3:30 p.m.
The movie we will be showing is Who Killed the Electric Car. The meetings normally only last about an hour, but we will run long this time so as not to split the movie into two sittings.
If anyone has any suggestions for movies, please post them here or send an e-mail to the SPS officers at
spshccdm@gmail.com
Hope to see you all there!!!
Peace and Solidarity . . . and Physics

SPS Fall 2009 - Tue Sep 08, 2009 6:22 am
Hey everybody!! This is a welcome back post. It has been a long summer, for me anyway. I was trekkin' it. I hope everyone had a great time, and if you were stuck in summer classes, I hope they went well and you did great! We are gearing up for a packed semester. SPS has a great line-up of activities for it's members. We are all really excited!
The potential events and activities we have planned for this semester, include: a trip to the USF physics/engineering labs; star watching and meteor showers; lectures from professionals in the local area; trips to tour facilities of some of local businesses and firms; MOSI light shows and field trip; competitions/ shared events with the SPS from USF; as well as movie nights!!
Our first movie will be Tuesday, September 22nd (room still to be announced). We will be showing Who Killed the Electric Car.
If there are any movies you think we should add to the prospective list, please come to the meetings and let your voice be heard. We will also be asking members what other activities they may be interested in seeing the club pursue.
Our meetings are the same day and time as last semester: every other Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The first meeting is this Tuesday, today, September 8th, and the following meeting is the 22nd, when we will show the movie. The meetings will continue to rotate every other Tuesday.
We also have a major project planned for this semester. We are currently getting the details together to get the project approved. If you search the forum, you might just figure out what it is. . . heehee!
We also have a super cool day trip we are planning. That will be announced once we have an idea of how many members plan to remain regular. It is going to be a sick way of studying physics, I'll tell you that.
Again, welcome back. Please post and look around. We would like to use the forum to communicate amongst members rather than filling up e-mail boxes all the time.
See you all at the meeting today!
Peace and Solidarity . . . and Physics!!!
